Planning Services – Overview

Professional lighting design according to HOAI, tailored to individual needs

Individual Consulting

Good lighting design starts with clear and competent consulting — and this doesn’t require a large-scale project.
We provide targeted support for architects, municipalities, and engineering offices, even for smaller projects or specific questions. Early expert consultation helps to avoid costly planning errors and significantly improves the quality of your project.
In many cases, just a few hours of consulting are enough to make well-founded decisions, develop ideas, and make subsequent planning more efficient.

Preliminary Investigation

In the preliminary phase, we lay the foundation for successful lighting design. This includes defining the task, advising on performance requirements, formulating objectives, and establishing clear interface definitions with all involved disciplines.
This phase creates transparency, planning reliability, and a solid basis for economical and standard-compliant lighting solutions.

Schematic Design

In this phase, the basic requirements and specifications are analyzed and developed into an initial planning concept. Technical requirements and efficiency potentials are defined.
The preliminary design and cost framework form the basis for an economically and aesthetically sound lighting concept.

Design Development

In the design development phase, we create a lighting design concept in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations (including DIN EN 12464-1, ASR 4.3, DIN EN 13201). To verify photometric values, we provide lighting calculations using DIALux evo and Relux.

- CAD planning
- Cost estimation
- Lighting control
- Energy demand (efficiency)
- Documentation
- Coordination with project partners
- Coordination with manufacturers
- Interface coordination

- Organization and execution of lighting mock-ups as a key element, making the lighting effect tangible and providing a reliable basis for design, technical, and investment decisions.

Custom Concepts

Planning recommendations are adapted to the specific requirements of each project.
This creates a time- and cost-efficient planning process tailored precisely to project goals. Targeted optimizations can have a major impact on the entire project.

Execution planning

In the detailed design phase, the concept is developed into a fully executable solution.
We refine the planning according to HOAI service phases 3 and 4, closely coordinate with specialist planners, contractors, and luminaire manufacturers, and develop special luminaire solutions if required.
Our services include CAD planning, lighting calculations using DIALux Evo and Relux, cost estimation, tender documentation, and comprehensive reporting.
Lighting mock-ups allow the lighting effect to be evaluated directly on site.

Commissioning of Lighting Systems – Setting Perfect Light On Site

During commissioning, we ensure that the lighting performs exactly as planned — or even better. On site, we align luminaires, define dimming levels and lighting scenes, and fine-tune the system to the building and its specific use.
We verify actual photometric values such as illuminance, color rendering, color temperature, and flicker index, and prepare complete documentation including photographic records. The result is lighting that not only meets technical requirements but also creates atmosphere, efficiency, and practical usability.

Existing Conditions Survey – Foundation for Refurbishment and Planning Reliability

The on-site survey forms the basis for accurate refurbishment and modernization planning. It provides reliable data, ensures transparency, and serves as a solid foundation for further planning and decision-making processes.

Documantation of:
- Existing lighting installation
- Photometric values (illuminance measurement)
- Power consumption
- Environmental influences (aging, maintenance factor)
- Documented activities and intended use
- Planned change of use
- Photographic documentation
- Preparation of planning documents

Evaluation:
- Classification and assessment according to applicable standards and regulations
- Consulting on refurbishment or renewal, including identification of necessary planning tasks
- Documentation for follow-up trades
- Comparison of energy consumption
